單字講座 09：ascent (n) / assent (v)(n) / accent (n)

▍ascent (n) 攀爬/ 上升 = rise
「名詞」ascent 是由「動詞」ascend 衍生而來。ascend 意指「攀爬/ 上升」(rise)。▶ 例 1：我按下按鈕，然後電梯開始快速上升。
I pushed the button and the elevator began its swift ascent.
▍assent (v)(n) 同意 = consent
assent to N = consent to N = give assent to N = give consent to N
▶ 例 1：FDA 同意輝瑞 BNT 新冠疫苗的緊急使用授權。
The FDA gave assent to the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
= The FDA assented to the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
▍accent (n) 口音
「口音」(accent)，如：英國腔、美國腔等，和「方言」(dialect)，如：客家話、閩南語等，意思也是大不同！
▶ 例 1：我正學著說英國口音的英文。
I am learning to speak English with a British accent.
結論：ascent [əˈsent] 和assent [əˈsɛnt] 發音很相近，但是字義可是天差地遠。accent [ˈæksənt] 和前兩字拼字很像，看仔細囉，且要注意重音在第一音節唷！
