單字講座 68：clash (v)(n) / crash (v)(n) / crush (v)(n)

一名中國 Coser 日前在動漫展上大玩地獄梗（hellish gag），重現 NBA 傳奇球星 Kobe Bryant 2020 年直升機空難的現場。他戴著 Kobe 的面具及穿上他在湖人隊背號 24 號的球衣，趴在用厚紙板及寶特瓶製成的簡陋直升機旁，模擬空難。這行徑實在令人白眼翻到天邊！話說「空難」是 plane clash、plane crash 還是 plane crush 呢？下方說分明。





▍clash (v) (n) 衝突
▶ 例 1：演唱會和我的求職面試衝突，所以我去不了了。
The concert clashes with my job interview, so I won't be able to go.

▶ 例 2：計程車司機和那名女子因為車資起了口頭衝突。
The taxi driver was in a verbal clash with the woman over her fare.

▍crash (v) (n) 碰撞
▶ 例1：計程車失控，撞上我的車屁股。
The taxi went out of control and crashed into the back of my car.

▶ 例2：Jack 能在這場嚴重的汽車碰撞中倖存，真是奇蹟。
It’s a miracle that Jack survived the terrible car crash.

▍crush (v) (擠)壓壞 / 鎮壓 (n) 暗戀愛慕（的對象）
▶ 例1：我在車禍中失去雙腿。這壓碎了我想成為舞者的夢想。
I lost my legs in the car crash. This crushed my dream of becoming a dancer.

▶ 例2：當看見他暗戀的對象時，他忍不住臉紅。
He cannot help blushing when seeing his crush.
