單字講座 158：intuition (n) / intention (n) / superstition (n)

印度一處公園的鳳凰樹湧出「神水」，民眾迷信可治病，搶著獻花、撒薑黃和膜拜。市政廳介入調查後，真相曝光，眾人傻眼。所謂的「聖水」，其實是樹底下的老舊水管破裂，導致水從空心樹幹流出而形成的「漏水」。話說「迷信」是 intuition、intention 還是 superstition 呢？下方說分明。



▍intuition (n) 直覺
▶ 例 1：當我第一次遇見他，我的直覺告訴我，他就是我的真命天子。
When I met him for the first time, my intuition told me that he was my Mr. Right.

▍intention (n) 意圖
▶ 例 1：她無意（沒有意圖）為她所犯下的過錯道歉，這激怒了我。
It irritates me that she has no intention of apologizing for her mistake.

▍superstition (n) 迷信
▶ 例 1：即便小孩都知道「打破鏡子會帶來七年厄運」這種迷信是荒誕無稽的。
Even little kids know the superstition that breaking a mirror causes seven years of bad luck is silly.
