單字講座 62：creation (n) / recreation (n) / re-creation (n)

這個月，Netflix 和知名漫畫團體 CLAMP 攜手推出《格林童話變奏曲》。動畫影集裡收錄了六個以格林童話為基底，巧妙融合懸疑、恐怖、暗黑、科幻、詼諧等元素的獨立故事。想像若《灰姑娘》發生在日本昭和時代？《小紅帽》生活在近未來的科技世界？舊瓶裝新酒，「再創」讓老童話耳目一新。話說「再創」是 creation、recreation 還是 re-creation 呢？下方說分明。


▍creation (n) 創作
▶ 例 1：我精心雕琢了一個短篇故事。我請我姊讀完我的創作後給我一些反饋。

▍recreation (n) 休閒娛樂 = diversion = pastime
▶ 例 1：看棒球比賽是台灣最受歡迎的休閒娛樂之一。
Watching a baseball game is one of the most popular recreations in Taiwan.

▍re-creation (n) 再創；「re」字首意指 again。
▶ 例 1：這艘依聖經裏的規格如實再製的諾亞方舟，即將迎接遊客潮。
Built to the biblical specifications, the “authentic re-creation” of  Noah’s Ark is ready for a flood of visitors.
