單字講座 171：leap (v) (n) / lip (n)

你塗護唇膏塗對了嗎？隨著天氣轉冷，不少人發現，即便塗了護脣膏仍無法擺脫起屑乾裂的困擾。其實，護唇膏的正確使用方式應是順著嘴唇紋路「由上往下輕輕塗抹」，這樣才能讓滋潤成分有效地深入唇紋。話說「嘴唇」是 leap還是 lip 呢？下方說分明。



▍leap (v) (n) 跳躍
▶ 例 1：午後的陽光輕快地在葉間跳躍，沿著樹枝往下滑至樹幹，最後灑落地面。
The afternoon sunlight leaped lightly from leaf to leaf, slid along branches and down trunks, and dropped finally to the ground.

▶ 例 2：當阿姆斯壯成為踏上月球的第一人時，他說：我的一小步是人類的一大躍進。
When Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the Moon, he said, “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

▍lip (n) 嘴唇
例1：暴躁的經理告訴發牢騷的員工，要嘛閉嘴（為嘴唇拉上拉鍊），不然就去找份新工作。
The irritable manager told the complaining employees to zip their lips or find a new job.
